Odell Beckham Contract

New York Giants co-proprietor John Mara said Thursday that arrangements for a new contract with star wide recipient Odell Beckham Jr. will start "truly soon" and that he would like to achieve an arrangement "as soon as possible."

Beckham has watched this offseason as a few star players, numerous wide collectors from his 2014 draft class, have become new contracts. Fans and media have pondered when Beckham's turn would come, with our own particular Chris Pflum today anxiously requesting that the Giants "pay the man!"

It seems as though the Giants are preparing to do only that.

"I envision we'll be talking with his operators within the near future," Mara said. "We'll begin quite soon.

"This is the time that we generally had at the top of the priority list."

Beckham is as of now set to play on his fifth-year alternative, which would pay him $8.459 million.

Beckham in the past has said he might want to be the amusement's most generously compensated player, yet he made no waves about his agreement this offseason. Mike Evans, drafted in Beckham's 2014 class by the Tampa Straight Pirates, is currently the most generously compensated beneficiary in football with a five-year, $82.5 million arrangement ($38.258 million ensured). Brandin Cooks simply marked a five-year, $81 million expansion.

Beckham's arrangement is probably going to far surpass those. Mara, however, would not like to theorize on contract numbers.

"We clearly need him to be a Mammoth for quite a while," Mara said. "We comprehend what it will take — we think we realize what it will take."

Whatever that cost at last winds up being, Giants fans would now be able to be sure that the group plans to pay it.
